Bristol Dental Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry to join our friendly, ambitious team at an exciting time of modernisation and service development.
Bristol Dental Hospital has recently refurbished the paediatric theatre suite, and plans are in place to upgrade the outpatient department.
Main duties of the job
This is a varied and rewarding role, combining specialist patient care, teaching, and strong university links within a regional referral centre. We are seeking a candidate who can deliver all elements of outpatient care, including new patient clinics and treatment planning, to treatment delivered under sedation and experience of treatment under general anaesthetic, which is provided both at Bristol Dental Hospital and at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

Qualifications & Training
Essential
- Full registration including specialist list with the General Dental Council (GDC) or
- Eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview or
- Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or evidence of within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview
- Examination in Paediatric Dentistry (or equivalent) or within six months of completion
- Membership of appropriate Medical or Dental Defence Society Successful completion of a Specialty Advisory Committee (SAC) approved training program in Paediatric Dentistry (or equivalent), or within 6 months of completion
- Additional post-CCST development over 2 years as recommended by SAC in Paediatric Dentistry, or equivalent
Desirable
- Higher academic qualification
- Evidence of high-impact publications
- High level recognition of their teaching, such as a postdoctoral qualification or Fellowship of Higher Education Academy or equivalent
- Membership of relevant professional organisations relevant to Paediatric Dentistry
Experience
Essential
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in relevant specialty
- Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision
- Developing and running undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes, at the appropriate level
- Demonstrable experience of unsupervised clinical practice in Paediatric Dentistry
- A track record of leadership and management of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to appraise scientific literature critically
- A working knowledge of clinical governance and effective participation in audit and quality improvement
- Ability to prioritise, organise time appropriately and work independently

- Evidence of a special interest and expertise that complements those of other consultants in the department and is consistent with the Trust’s service strategy
