Clinical Orthopaedic Fellow in Elbow/Shoulder Surgery
Applications are invited for the above post commencing to start from either 4th August 2027.
The Orthopaedic and Trauma Department is based in the two Major Teaching Hospitals in the City of Cardiff, the Capital of Wales.
The post is attached to the Cardiff Upper Limb Team at the University Hospital Llandough and serves a local population of 500,000 and provides a tertiary referral service for a population of 1.5 million.
Main duties of the job
This post is intended for a candidate who has achieved FRCS (Tr & Orth) and is planning to pursue a career in Shoulder and elbow surgery.
The candidate will gain experience in open and arthroscopic elbow and shoulder surgery, both elective and trauma. The successful candidate will be expected to take part in ongoing and new research projects. They will also be expected to coordinate the upper limb MDT.
The Post Holder will be expected to work at specialist Registrar level and will participate in the specialist Registrar on call rota at Llandough Hospital.

Essential
- MBBS or equivalent
- Current GMC certificate Training in Radiation Protection or agreement to attend next available course (state higher qualifications if applicable)
- FRCS (Tr&ORTH)

- Intercalated Degree
- MSc or PHD
- Academic Excellence (Prizes, merits, distinctions etc.,)
Experience

- Some experience in shoulder and elbow surgery

- Evidence of effective team and multidisciplinary working
- Effective and demonstrable communication skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
