Job summary

Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust are looking to recruit a Specialty Doctor within the Ear, Nose and Throat Department.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to become part of a friendly, dynamic team, which consists of 9 Consultant Surgeons, 4 Specialty Doctors, 4 Specialist Registrars, 9 Junior Doctors & 5 Nurse Practitioners in ENT.

The appointee would be expected to provide middle grade expertise to both Paediatric and Adult cases within the E.N.T. Department to the people of Mid and West Kent together with areas of East and West Sussex.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the department, be involved with inpatient and outpatient care, join in the non-resident on call rota, as well as contribute to the teaching and supervision of junior trainees.

Duties would also include clinical sessions at both Tunbridge Wells Hospital – Pembury & Maidstone Hospital and possibly outreach sites if required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered with GMC, MRCS or equivalent
  • 4 years experience at SHO/ST level or equivalent 2 years experience in ENT SHO/ST or middle grade level

Desirable

  • FRCS or equivalent

Audit

Essential

  • Understand the principles of audit
  • Evidence of participation and completion of audit projects.

Research

Essential

  • An understanding of general principles, scientific method and interpretation of literature

Desirable

  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals

  • Evidence of good communication skills
