Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Deputy Department Leader at King’s Mill Hospital; part of Sherwood Forest NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of 12 theatres in the main department and day case department alongside 2 obstetric theatres and will work alongside the 2 department leaders and a range of Team Leaders.

Our specialities include Emergency & Trauma, Colo-rectal, vascular, Breast, Urology, ENT, elective orthopaedics, Gynaecological, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, endocrine, Obstetrics and also include anaesthetic procedures such as interventional radiology, mental health support and cardioversions.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

Qualifications

  • 1st level Registered Nurse or diploma/degree in Operating Department Practice or equivalent.

Further training

Essential

  • Evidence of personal and professional development in perioperative practice/ management

Desirable

  • Diploma in Management/ relevant to post or willingness to undertake related Diploma level study
  • Risk management experience

Experience

Essential

  • Experience as a Senior Operating Department Practitioner/1st level registered nurse
  • Leadership within a team

Contractual requirements.

  • Ability to work flexibly or as the department reasonable requests
