Job summary
Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a substantive Consultant in Gynaecology with sub speciality accreditation in Fertility and Reproductive Medicine. This job will consist of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week as an annualised contract. The job plan includes on call duties as part of a 1 in 12 – 14 rota for Gynaecology. The successful applicant will be based at the Birmingham Women’s Hospital; they will work primarily in the fertility team delivering fertility and reproductive endocrine clinics, aspects of Fertility Treatment such as Egg Collection, surgical sperm retrieval, embryo Transfer and ultrasound scanning and gynaecology operating at unit level.
The successful candidate will be expected to be aware of local policies and procedures and to comply with the standing orders and standing financial instructions of the Trust. Where the Consultant manages employees of the Trust, they will be expected to observe the local employment and personnel policies and procedures.
The Trust will be moving towards 7 day and 3 session working. The successful candidate could be expected to work some evening clinical duties and weekend sessions.
Hours of work are full time with on-call commitments on the Gynaecology Consultant Rota.
The successful candidate will be expected to be aware of local guidelines, policies and procedures and to comply with the Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions of the Trust.

This is an annualised contract. For each PA described above, over 1 year, 42 weeks will be delivered. This is to facilitate prospective cover of the Assisted Conception Unit.

- Full GMC Registration
- MRCOG or appropriate specialist registration
- Relevant CCT or equivalent (‘equivalence’ must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC

- Evidence of ongoing engagement with research
