An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced, and enthusiastic Advanced Clinical Practitioner to become part of the Radiotherapy Review Team, Radiotherapy department based at Withington site. The Christie NHS FT is the largest cancer treatment centre in Europe, seeing more than 40,000 patients a year. We are an international leader in cancer research and development.You will practice autonomously at an advanced level with highly developed specialist knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and management of Oncology patients. The ACP will formulate clinical decisions and complex treatment plans to manage acute and chronic illness and will respond to actual and potential health problems appropriately. They will participate in the direct clinical management of patients from first presentation at the hospital, until discharge, including history taking, physical examination, and requisition of appropriate clinical investigations. You will be a key member of the clinical team, which includes Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Enhanced Clinical Practitioners and will be a part of a large cross-trust multi-disciplinary team. You will be involved in the clinical training and development of qualified AHP’s, nurses and support staff.We are open to discussing a Band 7 training post for this role if you do not already possess the essential skills required.

Main duties of the job

The AP will work within radiotherapy related care and formulate clinical decisions and complex treatment plans to manage acute and chronic illness. They will participate in the direct clinical management of patients from first presentation at the hospital, until discharge, including history taking, systematic physical examination, and requisition of appropriate clinical investigations. Independent prescribing responsibilities support this practice. Strategic planning, education, research and audit are key components of the role.They will provide advanced clinical skills and advice demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of oncology patients.They will monitor and lead improvements to standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence based care, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership. They will contribute to clinical governance and the implementation of relevant research into practice thus aiding service development.The AP will demonstrate professionalism in terms of attitude, communication and appearance and will maintain personal standards of conduct and behaviour consistent with Trust and professional standards.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered professional (e.g., NMC/HCPC)
  • Educated at Degree Level 7 in relevant specialty
  • MSc Advanced Practice
  • NMP registration
  • HEE Digital Staff badge demonstrating AP accreditation with The Centre for Advancing Practice
  • Recent evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

  • Teaching & Mentorship Course
  • Advanced Communication Skills training
  • Relevant research qualification – e.g., Good clinical Practice
  • Recent evidence of continuing professional development

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of Advanced Clinical Practice at 7/8 level in relevant Clinical Specialty
