We’re seeking experienced Band 6 Senior Audiologists to play a key role in our modernised Audiology Department. Thanks to NHS funding and new roles and three-quarters of a million pounds invested in cutting-edge equipment, we’re better equipped than ever to serve our patients and support our team.

We currently have a fixed term post, both covering adult and paediatric services. We welcome applications from audiologists with adult experience, paediatric experience, or a mix of both. If you’re keen to develop skills in an area you haven’t yet specialised in, we’ll support you with training and supervision.

Here, your work will be varied, challenging, and rewarding. You’ll move between acute hospital clinics, community services, and outreach sites, working closely with the wider MDT and providing leadership and guidance to colleagues. You’ll also benefit from recent investment for digital service improvements meaning enhanced systems and smarter tools that make patient care smoother and more efficient.

Based at Scunthorpe General Hospital, you’ll combine advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, supervising junior colleagues, contributing to service development, and working across both hospital and community settings. You’ll deliver complex diagnostics and rehabilitation for both adults and children and have the opportunity to specialise in areas of interest.

Person Specification

Education

Essential

  • BSc degree in Audiology from an accredited University OR – Equivalent qualifications BAAT part 1 and 2 (until 2006).
  • Be registered with AHCS or HCPC.

Desirable

  • Evidence of learning from relevant professional courses/seminars
  • Post qualifying clinical experience in Audiology.
  • Driving license.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Basic Grade Audiologist or working as a band 6 with acquisition of skills expected at a senior level.
  • Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Clinical Governance knowledge.
  • Able to perform a wide range of diagnostic tests including tympanometry, VRA, performance Audiometry, play Audiometry, McCormick Toy Testing, speech audiometry, acoustic reflexes and TEOAE, PTA, and otoscopy including video otoscopy.
  • Able to perform hearing aid fittings with verification e.g., REMS.
  • Experience in performing Hearing assessment Direct Referral clinics from GP’s, prescribing hearing aids, identifying red flags and the need for further investigation and onward referral.
  • Experience in paediatric hearing assessment and paediatric rehabilitation.
  • Be able to lead and perform a comprehensive range of paediatric diagnostic assessments.
  • Competent in paediatric hearing aid fittings with verification and validation

Desirable

  • Experience with Auditbase and Phonak hearing aids
  • Experience of training other lower grades of staff.
  • Previous NHS experience.
