Job summary

Two Locum Consultant posts are available within the Emergency Department of Birmingham Children’s Hospital to support our winter period. The posts comprise 10 programmed activities with a commitment to 1:5 weekends on call for the Emergency Department.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a friendly and dedicated team of 10 Consultants, 6 Specialty Doctors/Senior Clinical Fellows, 4 senior Specialist Trainees (from Emergency Medicine and Paediatrics), 9 ST2/3s, 2 GPVTS trainees and 2 Teaching Fellows. We are also proud of our ongoing development of Advanced Nursing Practice within the ED. As a university teaching hospital, we provide excellent opportunities for education, and there is an active research programme within our department.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oFull GMC Registration
  • oMBChB or equivalent
  • oMRCPH/FRCEM or equivalent

Desirable

  • oHigher Degree (MD, PhD, etc)

Experience

Essential

  • oAppropriate progression of career to date
  • oExperience in clinical teaching
  • oLevel 3 Child Protection training

CLINICAL SKILLS

Essential

  • oAPLS/EPALS provider & ATLS/ETC provider

Desirable

  • oAPLS/EPALS instructor
  • oATLS/ETC instructor
