Trainee/ Advanced Clinical Practitioner: Sponsorship Available

Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic individual to join our Advanced Clinical Practitioner team here at Northumbria Healthcare working within the Oncology service (specialising in breast) Trust-wide.

It will be expected that through completion of MSc Advanced Clinical Practice and supportive experiential learning, that the post holder will show high levels of autonomy across the four pillars of practice including clinical practice, leadership, education and research/audit. The ACP will be pivotal in developing the wider clinical oncology service, working closely with the visiting Oncologists (based at Newcastle Hospital trust), Oncology CNS’s . It is expected that approximately 20% of the post holders time will be spent in leadership, education and research/audit and quality improvement. A specific Job Plan will be negotiated on completion of academic work and appropriate time and resources allocated to each pillar.

This advert is open to those who are aspiring to be an ACP in oncology and we would support applications for 30hrs to 37.5hrs.

Main duties of the job

Successful candidates will be supported to complete a 3 year, part time MSc programme in Advanced clinical Practice. They will be supported by the ACP Oncology & Acute Oncology lead, Clinical Supervisor will be provided from the Consutlant Oncologist Team to work independently and transition into their role as their course is ending. Following this they will spend a period consolidating their clinical skills, developing independent practice and working towards being and independent practitioner.

Person Specification

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

• Experience of participation in clinical audit
• Experience of implementing evidence based practice
• Extensive demonstrable experience in specialty / clinical area
• Evidence the underpinning subject-specific competencies i.e. knowledge, skills and behaviours relevant to the role setting and scope, and demonstrate application of the capabilities to these, in an approach that is appropriate to the individual role, setting and scope.

Desirable

• Experience of leading clinical governance
• Experience of research activity
• Experience of Service Improvement / Quality Improvement / Practice Development
• Experience of developing evidence based protocols and clinical guidelines.

Essential

• You may also need to travel between Trust premises as required for the performance of your duties. You may also be expected to work at any of the trust sites. The Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role

Experience and knowledge

• Professional registration with NMC / HCPC / GPC
• Relevant degree, minimum 2:2 and willingness to work toward a Masters level qualification
• Evidence of relevant, recent study continuing education.

• Management and leadership qualification
• IR(ME)R training
• ALS / APLS
• Major Incident Training
• Prescribing qualification (where legally permitted)
