Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and compassionate leader to join our Musculoskeletal (MSK) Outpatient Therapies service as a Therapy Lead. This role offers operational management responsibility for a key part of the MSK Outpatient Therapies team, including the large Aintree University Hospital service and satellite sites across the north of the city.

The post is based at Aintree Hospital, with flexibility required to maintain strong links with clinical teams across other Trust sites. Alongside site leadership responsibilities, the post holder will oversee clinical teams including trauma outpatients, shoulder and elbow, rheumatology and hydrotherapy. Working closely with the Head of MSK Therapies, existing MSK Therapy Leads and Consultant MSK Therapists, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of an exceptional, high-quality MSK outpatient therapies service.

Main duties of the job

The Therapy Lead will provideoperational leadership to their teams, driving quality, safety, standards of care and service improvement. Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience of leading and developing teams, delivering evidence-based care, supporting integrated pathways across professions, and contributing to robust governance processes. This includes involvement in the management of incidents, risks and complaints, while promoting a supportive learning culture.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • First level professional registration NMC/HCPC
  • Clinical Professional Qualification. Degree level or equivalent
  • Significant evidence of post registration continued professional development, working towards masters
  • Post-graduate/registration Management or Training qualification /equivalent
  • Evidence of Leadership development

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable extensive experience as a clinical manager, with responsibility for clinical quality, people management, budget responsibility and successful delivery of performance targets and quality standards within strict financial controls.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain high standards of care and team management over a sustained period.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Key issues and pace of change facing the NHS nationally and locally assess and describe impact on AHPs/clinical professional service.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NHS policy and regulatory policy
  • Understanding and appreciation of diversity
  • Knowledge and understanding of computerised financial, management, budgetary management and workforce information systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of governance arrangements and standards in the NHS and the wider health and social care economy
