Consultant Obstetrician – Fetal Medicine
We are delighted to invite applications for a substantive Consultant in Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics to join our friendly, supportive, and highly skilled team. This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and motivated clinician to contribute to the delivery of exceptional fetal medicine services and high-risk obstetric care within a collaborative multidisciplinaryenvironment.Thesuccessful candidate will become an integral member of a dedicated team, providing expert care for women and families with complex obstetric and fetal medicine needs, while contributing to the acute obstetric on-callrota. We welcome applicants with broad experience in fetal medicine, obstetrics, andlabourward leadership.Additionalexpertise or an interest in maternal medicine or other areas of high-risk obstetrics would be particularly valued.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be expected to:
Provide expertise and leadership in high risk obstetric care and share a passion for fetal and maternal medicine management as well as preterm birth care.
Develop their own specialist interest which will be considered and accommodated within the job plan after discussion at interview.
To be a passionate leader within high risk obstetrics.
To work across the UHD NHS Foundation Trust estate.
To support and develop the fetal medicine service
Undertake the investigation and treatment of obstetric referrals in accordance with departmental and Trust guidelines.
Participate in the timetabled obstetric sessions and join the other obstetric consultants in maintaining and developing modern obstetric practice to a high standard.
Oversee the care of obstetrics patients admitted by themselves or other obstetricians/gynaecologists.
Contribute to the resident on call rota.
Participate in the non-resident weekend consultant on call rota.
Coordinate annual and study leave arrangements with colleagues within the department to ensure an acceptable level of consultant cover.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- GMC Registration
- MRCOG
- UK CCT / CESR in O&G
- SITMs in at least one of the following areas; Fetal Care, Pregnancy Care, Maternal Medicine, or Prenatal Diagnosis.
- ATSM in fetal medicine, maternal medicine or high risk antenatal care.
Desirable
- Subspecialty training
Personal skills
Essential
- Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload & use initiative.
- Ability to know own limitations & when to seek advice.
- Ability to offer acute O&G care as the resident / non-resident O&G Consultant
- Teaching experience
Desirable
- Evidence of involvement in audit & research projects
- Evidence of involvement in risk management
- Evidence of Quality Improvement projects
