Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for qualified MHWPs to work alongside service users, families, carers and multi-disciplinary team members to co-ordinate care, supporting collaborative decision-making about care and treatment in primary care.

To deliver a set of wellbeing-focused psychologically-informed interventions, aligned to cognitive-behavioural principles, based on the best evidence available, that address problems often experienced by people with complex mental health problems.

The post-holder will work under close clinical skills supervision usually from an HCPC registered clinical / counselling psychologist, BABCP accredited cognitive behavioural therapist to provide specified psychologically-informed wellbeing-focused interventions, with a level of autonomy matched to level of demonstrated competence and stage of training.

Main duties of the job

The roles and responsibilities of this post are in line with the Trust’s goals of implementing and rolling out Dialog+ and offered stepped care for complex mental health presentations. These roles offer low intensity interventions which are brief and focused. They play an integral role in ensuring that stepped care is a genuine offer and that psychological interventions can be offered at different stages of need and readiness.

To work alongside service users, families, carers and multi-disciplinary team members to co-ordinate care, supporting collaborative decision-making about care and treatment.

To deliver a set of wellbeing-focused psychologically-informed interventions, aligned to cognitive-behavioural principles, based on the best evidence available, that address problems often experienced by people with severe mental health problems.

To work under close case management supervision from a suitably qualified professional to provide high quality collaborative care planning as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.

To work under close clinical skills supervision from an HCPC registered clinical or counselling psychologist or BABCP accredited cognitive behavioural therapist or other suitably qualified psychological professional to provide specified psychologically-informed wellbeing-focused interventions.

  • A graduate certificate (Level 6) or postgraduate certificate (Level 7) delivering the national curriculum for Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioners (Adult Specialist Mental Health)

Desirable

  • Any training relevant to the service user group (A/I)

Experience

  • oExperience of working with people with mental health needs gained through a graduate certificate or postgraduate certificate training with significant supervised practice (A/I) oExperience running groups/activities (A/I) oExperience working as part of a team (A/I) oExperience of being supervised (A/I) oExperience of analysing and communicating complex information verbally and in writing

Ability to work under pressure. oAbility to be self reflective, whilst working with service users, in own personal and professional development and in supervision oTo be able to use basic computer skills to collect, collate and report on client’s progress on a daily basis. oAble to work with diverse communities and within a multi-cultural setting.
