Our Place Team brings together a wide range of services, including CINSS, Podiatry, Wheelchair Services, Urgent and Emergency Care, the Integrated Care Home Team, Clinical Educators, Digital Services, and Parkinson’s Specialist Services. This unique role offers the opportunity to work across multidisciplinary teams, supporting quality improvement, service development, workforce wellbeing, and outstanding patient experiences.

Main duties of the job

A credible senior leader with managerial responsibility for both nursing and allied health professionals ensuring services are responsive to patient needs. Working as a visible lead within the group management structure, demonstrating and developing collaborative working within and across the MDT. The Modern Matron has a pivotal role in creating the best experiences and opportunities for our staff to become local, national, and international leaders in healthcare with the patient at the centre of everything we do.

The Matron’s role focuses on the 10 key responsibilities outlined in the Matrons Handbook (2019)

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • oGraduate and/or working towards Masters degree oCurrent professional registration (NMC or HCPC) oDemonstrable CPD oCompletion of leadership development programme or course

Desirable

  • oManagement course/qualification oQualifications in specialism

Experience

Essential

  • oProfessional clinical experience at a senior level oProven record of leading and effectively managing change oExperience of successfully resolving complex problems oExperience of successful resource & budget management oExperience in service development

Desirable

  • oEvidence of conference presentation or journal publication oProject management oExperience of working in primary care or community services

Knowledge

Essential

  • oA sound knowledge of professional priorities and issues oA knowledgeable clinician with ability to ensure clinical governance is embedded in practice oKnowledge of the national and local NHS healthcare agenda and its implications oKnowledge of research/audit processes and application
