Job summary

This is a key leadership role within HSC, operating as part of the senior leadership team and enabling the Director of Care Delivery to fulfil their role in leading high-quality services that deliver the best outcomes for those individuals within Community Health and Social Care across the Bailiwick of Guernsey.The Associate Director provides leadership, operational management, and strategic direction of the service area in line with HSC Care Values. They will lead services that deliver high quality outcomes against best practice and professional standards and demonstrate value for money. They will promote a culture of openness and transparency whilst enabling their teams to engage in person centred service developments through the annual service planning cycle. This postholder should have experience of transforming care and implementing long term strategy. They will have extensive experience within Community Health and Social Care settings with the ability to motivate and inspire staff to deliver the highest possible clinical and professional standards. The postholder will be a member of the Professional Alliance of Health and Social Care Practitioners.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum Qualification:
  • Registered health or social care professional.
  • Masters Degree in a related field.
  • Leadership qualification or recognised programme.

Desirable

  • Key Criteria:
  • Excellent written skills with the ability to write reports and business cases for consideration by the Corporate Management Team/Committee.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
  • Experience of managing complex services in a changing environment.
  • Proven experience of quality, improvement, and governance.
  • Experience of managing budgets and delivery of productivity and efficiency programmes.
  • Good team member with a proven ability to lead, motivate, inspire, and support a multi-professional team.
  • Ability to understand complex issues, problem solve and propose solutions.
  • Personal and professional credibility, with the ability to quickly gain the confidence of others, including politicians, clinicians, managers, staff, service users and relatives.

  • To develop an in-depth understanding of customers whether they be internal, political or from the wider community and how they are affected by the service area and the wider public service.

  • Seek and encourage ideas, improvements and measured risk taking within service area to improve outcomes.
  • Create effective plans, systems, and governance to manage change and respond promptly to critical events.
