We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Accredited Clinical Coding Auditor to play a key role in shaping the future of our Clinical Coding service. This is an exciting time to join the Trust as we move towards a new EPR system and embrace more digital and agile ways of working.
You will bring strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a passion for quality improvement. As a senior member of the team, you will act as a role model for excellence, supporting both day-to-day operations and the strategic development of the service.
There is opportunity for flexible working that could include working from home three days as part of the working week; this would be discussed at interview.
The candidate will also manage the quality and performance targets assuring maximum accuracy and productivity levels within the Coding Team both for coding quality purposes and in support of key performance indicators.

Main duties of the job
Monitoring of agreed key performance and quality indicators will form a major part of this role, with responsibility for supporting areas of under achievement. The post-holder will work closely with lead clinicians within their respective areas, to ensure that specialty level data is timely, standardized and robust to support performance. The post-holder will support the Head of Clinical Coding in developing and managing strategic plans for the department.
To set up and perform internal coding audits, identifying variances against benchmarks, using tools such as CHKS to identify target areas.
Participate in external exchange audits with other Trusts.
To provide mentorship of trainee coders as appropriate and as agreed with the Head of Clinical Coding within the department’s quality framework.

Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to degree level or equivalent/equivalent experience.
- Coding Foundation Diploma including specialty workshops: ? Neoplasm ? Vascular ? Obstetrics ? T & O ? Refresher course
- Accredited Clinical Coding Qualification, ACC
- Report Writing course
- Completion of the NHS Digital Clinical Coding Auditor Programme
- Evidence of Continuing professional development to postgraduate diploma equivalent
Desirable
- Other relevant qualification e.g. health sciences, clinical qualification.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of using Patient Administrations Systems and coding software e.g. Medicode.
- Provision of expert coding advice on coding rules to all levels within the Trust.
- Demonstrable and extensive practical experience with standard clinical coding schemes (ICD and OPCS)
Skills
Essential
- Excellent understanding of PbR
- Comprehensive knowledge of coding rules and classifications.
- Use MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint to an expert level.
- Demonstrable and extensive understanding of Anatomy and Physiology and medical terminology.
- In depth knowledge of HRGs (Health Resource Group)
- Excellent organisational, written and verbal communication skills
