Maternal Medicine Clinical Fellow (ST4+): Sponsorship Available

This a full time post for 12 months.

Applications are invited for a Maternal Medicine Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The post will be based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, although you will be expected to work at any of the Trust’s sites.

Main duties of the job

The post is suited to a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a genuine interest in developing their skills and knowledge in Maternal Medicine. The role can be adapted to suit the level of expertise of the applicant, and is well suited to someone who is early in their registrar career or in the later stages, including post CCT

This post involves working a full Obstetrics and Gynaecology on call (1:9).

A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Full registration with the GMC and with Licence to Practise
• Basic medical qualification (MB BS or equivalent)
• MRCOG or equivalent
• PLAB or equivalent

Desirable

• CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or equivalent

Clinical Training and Experience

Essential

• Experience working in a Obstetrics and Gynaecology post for at least 3 years, including at least one year at registrar (tier 2) level

Desirable

• Tier 3 (ST6-7) level experience

Ability

Essential

• Exhibits and has references acknowledging ability and skills commensurate with experience stated above and with career goals, and should include experiencing in dealing with specific maternal medicine situations
• References must demonstrate training progress.
• Communication skills – to be clear, fluent and articulate in communication in English.

Knowledge

Essential

• Exhibits and has references confirming progressive acquisition of knowledge specific to career goals.
• Understands the importance of risk management, the audit cycle, and continuing education.

• Is willing, able and has the skill to collate and record information and communicate in writing with other professionals.
• Exhibits good time management and diligence, i.e. answers bleep and arrives for duties promptly, helps colleagues
