Consultant in Paediatric Cardiology – Catheter Intervention: Sponsorship Available

Job summary

This is a post for a Paediatric Cardiologist with expertise in Congenital catheter interventions. The post holder will be required to cover General Paediatric cardiology service including and not limited to Ward week cover, on calls and clinics. The post holder will participate in Congenital catheter interventions list both at the LRI and Glenfield hospital on a rotational basis. This will include one list as 1st Operator and one list as 2nd Operator. The post holder will also do Intervention on calls on a 1:3 basis. The post holder will attend the Paediatric Congenital MDTs on Wednesdays and the ACHD MDTs on Thursday as part of the Catheter Intervention teams.

Main duties of the job

The appointment will be whole time i.e. a total of 10 programmed activities (PAs). There is scope for allocating up to an additional 2.0 PAs of activity according to mutual agreement and according to service needs.

Any Consultant who is unable for personal reasons, to work whole time, will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis in consultation with Consultant colleagues.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • MB BS or Equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Fully Accredited for Higher Specialist Training or will be eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date
  • MRCP/MRCS or Equivalent

Desirable

  • Membership of relevant Specialist Societies or Associations.
  • Higher degree e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent.

Experience

Essential

  • Additionally trained in the provision of subspecialist area of congenital heart disease (Interventional Cardiology)
  • Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgment to problems; demonstrates clear, logical thinking/analytical approach; understands evidence based practice
  • Excellent clinical skills and experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the Job Plan
  • Ability to apply sound clinical judgment to problems.
  • Demonstrates clear, logical thinking / analytical approach.

Desirable

  • Evidence of clinical research commitment to Interventional Cardiology
