Job summary

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, motivated nurse leader to join our team of Band 7 nurses in the Emergency Department on a permanent basis covering 24/7 Emergency Nursing Care delivery.

You will be responsible for the provision of clinical leadership, support, teaching and decision making from the patient’s arrival to hospital and throughout their journey in the Emergency Department on a rota covering 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

We are looking for a proactive, supportive band 7 nurse with proven clinical leadership and decision-making skills.

You will need to demonstrate expert knowledge surrounding emergency care and a commitment to provide high quality, safe and effective care for patients requiring emergency nursing intervention.

Main duties of the job

Your senior Sister/Charge Nurse role includes being professionally accountable and responsible for the standards and delivery of nursing care within their area of management, responsible for standards of cleanliness in their own clinical area.

You will be the named budget holder and authorised signatory for financial resources and responsible for the information governance on his/her Ward/Department and the completeness of data.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC registered
  • Evidence of ongoing development related to speciality
  • ENB 998 / C&G 7307 or assessor course

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level
  • ECDL

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience at Junior Sister / Charge Nurse level in a relevant clinical setting
  • Experience in mentoring, assessing, coaching
  • Leading a team
  • Have undertaken appraisals

Desirable

  • Experience of change management

Skills and Aptitudes

Essential

  • Transformational leadership style
  • Audit / research experience
  • Presentation skills
