Job summary

Healthcare Librarian – 27 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Knowledge and Library Services team at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust as an Assistant Librarian. This post is a fixed term, 1 year maternity leave cover. You will be a qualified librarian, with excellent communication and customer care skills who is experienced in using online information databases, Microsoft Office applications and social media.

This post offers the opportunity for an experienced librarian to develop existing, and gain new, skills including taking advantage of the excellent links and collaborative opportunities offered. The role will support the library to develop services to meet the need of all staff groups, reaching beyond the traditional library users of doctors and nursing staff.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

o Evidence searching and synthesis.o Critical appraisal of health literature.o Design and delivery of user education training sessions.o Management of e-resources in the library environment.o Utilisation of Content-Management Systems to deliver effective Intranet/Internet pages.o Marketing and Promotion of Library Services.o Cataloguing of documents and electronic resources.o Document delivery and retrieval from a variety of sources.o Delivery of Current Awareness Services.o Analysis of service data such as usage statistics.o Attend and share learning experience from Library Network, National Network CPD opportunities.o Work in partnership with other health libraries across the CLIKS group in Cheshire and the LIHNN Networkso Attend Trust wide forums as appropriate, to share updates relating to KLS.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

• Relevant qualification in library and information science.

Desirable

• Membership of CILIP or equivalent professional membership.

Knowledge

Essential

• Knowledge of current developments in health libraries.
• Excellent IT skills and experience of using a wide variety of software.
• Time management skills.

Desirable

• Knowledge of healthcare library resources.

Experience

• Experience of working in a library/knowledge-based environment.
