Job summary

We are seeking a proactive, motivated, forward-thinking, and dynamic individual to join our consultant team for a locum post based at Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital. This is a one-year fixed-term consultant post to start as soon as possible. The successful candidate will provide cover for both obstetricsand gynaecology.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicants will work at both sites of the Trust, providing emergency and on-call cover. We have a weekday hot week on call between 8 am and 6 pm.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC registration
  • MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Labour ward ATSM or Equivalent
  • At least one gynaecology or equivalent of the desirable criteria
  • Entry on Specialist Register (CCT or entry expected within 6 months of interview date)

Desirable

  • ATSM in benign Gynaecology
  • ATSM in benign Urogynae
  • ATSM in benign gynaecological surgery: hysteroscopy
  • Accredited Coloposcopy

Experience/Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of competence in gynaecological surgery for benign disease and emergency gynaecology surgery
  • Evidence of competence in undertaking C-sections
  • Evidence of competency in managing and treating emergency gynaecology cases
  • Ability to take independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
  • Evidence of experience working within a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

  • ALSO, PROMPT or MOET instructor
  • Demonstrate ideas for research and innovative practice
  • Experience of clinical governance
  • Training in breaking bad news or equivalent raining
  • Clinical research in the fields of special interest
  • Experience in Clinical Audit and Quality Improvement
  • Willingness to contribute to the TOP service

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients both obstetrics and gynaecology
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and display leadership

Desirable

  • Management qualification
  • Evidence of authorship of clinical guidelines at a local or national level.
