Job summary

The South West Neonatal Network has an exciting opportunity for an experienced neonatal educator to join the regional network team for a part time secondment.

The role is predominantly home work, though the network has an office in Myrtle Road, Bristol. Travel across the South West will be required to support delivery of educational events and workshops.

Main duties of the job

The Network aims to improve the family experiences, clinical outcomes and quality standards within neonatal care, encouraging continuity and consistency across the region. The Network is hosted by Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (BFT).

The post holder will provide senior neonatal education expertise across the South West. They will collaboratively deliver regional neonatal education programmes, including the Qualified in Specialty course, and support workforce development and quality improvement initiatives.

The successful post holder will be passionate about enhancing the experience of neonatal staff and the families who use neonatal services, through delivery and promotion of education, learning and development.

Person Specification

Education and qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife and member of NMC.
  • Neonatal Qualification in Speciality.
  • Educated to master level or equivalent level of experience working at a senior level in specialist area.
  • Recognised teaching qualification or equivalent level of experience – e.g. PGCERT or willingness to work towards.
  • Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development.

Desirable

  • Leadership qualification
  • RCUK Generic Instructors Course

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Essential

  • Knowledge of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciation of the implications of this on work area.

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience in the delivery and co-ordination of multidisciplinary neonatal education and training.
  • Experience of contributing to higher education programmes.
  • Experience of managing and motivating a team and reviewing individual performance.
  • Experience of researching best practice (globally, private and public sector), interpreting its relevance and seeking processes/practices which could be implemented to achieve reform, including advising on policy implementation.
  • Experience of innovating, implementing and evaluating new ways of working.
