Job summary
This is a 10 PA post (8 DCC, 2 SPA) to support the foot and ankle surgical service within Orthopaedics. The post has a complex Pelvic & Acetabulum trauma focus and will in addition provide support for the Major Trauma Centre. The service is looking to appoint a substantive Consultant with a specialist interest in P&A Surgery, to complement the current needs of the Orthopaedic service within ICHT. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to teaching and training within orthopaedic department.
Main duties of the job
This is a 10 PA post to support the Pelvic & Acetabulum surgical service within Orthopaedics. The service is looking to appoint a substantive Consultant with a specialist interest in P&A surgery, which will complement the current needs of the Orthopaedic service within ICHT. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to teaching and training within orthopaedic department. The postholder will partake in the on call rota which is a 1:12 frequency & the Major Trauma Consultant of the week rota.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Full GMC registration
- Entry on the GMC specialist register via:
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or CESR (CP) – proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview
- CESR/Portfolio pathway, or alternative routes to specialist registration or
- An appropriate higher orthopaedic surgical qualification.
Desirable
- Higher Degree or Diploma in Education
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
Essential
- Evidence of achievement appropriate to appointment at a consultant level at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
Desirable
- Publications in peer reviewed Orthopaedic journals
- Current research projects
LANGUAGE
Essential
- Candidates are able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfill the job requirements
TEACHING & TRAINING
Essential
- Evidence of achievement appropriate to appointment at consultant level at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
Desirable
- Experience in organising post- graduate teaching programs. Education qualification Completed courses for training trainers, assessment and appraisal
MANAGEMENT SKILLS
