We are recruiting for a part-time (25 hours per week), fixed-term Pathway Navigator to provide maternity leave cover within the Babies, Children’s & Young People (BCYP) Division. Based at Graseby House, Barnet Hospital, the post-holder will support the coordination of patient pathways across paediatric services, acting as a key point of contact for patients, families and the multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient and effective care delivery.
Main duties of the job
The Pathway Navigator is responsible for coordinating patient pathways and providing comprehensive administrative support across paediatric services. The post-holder will manage clinic outcomes, patient tracking, referrals, follow-up appointments and pathway activity, ensuring patients progress through their care journey in a timely manner.
Working closely with consultants, nurses, allied health professionals and administrative colleagues, the post-holder will act as a key point of contact for patients and families, supporting effective communication and service delivery.
The post-holder will contribute to maintaining service continuity, meeting operational targets and supporting high-quality patient care throughout the maternity cover period.
Person Specification
Education and professional qualifications
Essential
- RSA 2 or RSA 3-word processing/typing or equivalent experience
- English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent
- Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust shared commitments.
Desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology
Experience
Essential
- Previous experience of working with the public and/or patients in a healthcare environment
- Experience of interaction with all levels of staff
- Previous administrative and organisational experience
- Experience of dealing with non-routine and complex problems
Desirable
- Experience of working with Cerner, or similar electronic Patient Administration Systems
Others

- Team work and ability to develop strong collaborative working relationships within different teams and relevant administrative, clinical and management staff
- Ability to work without direct supervision
