An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to develop and coordinate Paediatric Trauma and Rehabilitation as a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist/Allied Health Professional. The post offers many opportunities to develop and shape the service, in addition to contributing to the senior nursing team across Children’s Services.

Main duties of the job

As a clinical nurse/AHP in the service you will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills as well as leading and influencing change. You will be motivated to make a positive difference to the child and family experience, maximising effective patient pathways and discharge planning.

Reporting to the lead nurse, you will ensure partnership working across teams in promoting service development for future expansion of Children’s Services.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • RSCN/ RN Child/Allied Health Professional NMC/HCPC Registration
  • First Degree (or equivalent level) in nursing or health-related subject
  • Teaching and Assessing qualification Evidence of on-going CPD

Desirable

  • Post-graduate Diploma/Degree/Masters
  • Counselling qualification
  • Care of the critically ill child Speciality Qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Working with acute and chronically ill children in a therapy or nursing background
  • Evidence of having worked collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching colleagues/ students and to mentorship

Desirable

  • Experience of working with children,young people and families following major trauma Evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience as a clinical nurse specialist / extended scope practitioner
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation prescriptions and outcome measures
  • NHS experience
