Band 5 Staff Nurse – Maple BD Orthopaedics, fulltime hours available 37.5 hours per week

There are exciting new opportunities as we develop and transform our orthopaedic services. We have trauma centre status and are currently further developing our frail elderly pathways in line with best practice tariff outcomes. We are 40 bedded Trauma Orthopaedic ward. We work very closely with a great team of Allied Health professionals to care for and rehabilitate our patients.

Based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, we are seeking to recruit enthusiastic and highly motivated team players. You will be actively involved in the assessment, planning, delivery and the evaluation of care as a key member of our multi-disciplinary team. The newly launched nursing strategy supports our team to work in line with our Trust values.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited from Registered Nurses with active registration with experience of working in a caring environment.

The Trust will provide a twelve month preceptorship period for all newly registered healthcare professionals.

Healthcare Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • General Registered Nurse Level 1

Desirable

  • NST 307
  • ENB 998/997 or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Thorough understanding of contemporary nursing issues, i.e. CNO 10 key Roles
  • Working with in a team
  • Working with a extended MDT

Desirable

  • Pre and postoperative surgical knowledge
  • Orthopaedic condition Knowledge

Skills and Aptitudes

Essential

  • Able to manage a team of patients
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Practice assessor or if newley qualified to undertake program at end of preceptorship program
  • Ability to communicate utilising a variety of skills
  • Ability to take charge of the ward when asked
  • Extended Skills or if newly qualified undertake through preceptorship program
  • Ensure Clinical kills are maintained as Trust policy

Desirable

  • Leadership skills
