Radiology Fellowship Fixed Term 12 months. 4 Positions

Applications are invited for a post CCT Musculoskeletal Radiology fellowship to commence in August 2027, based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust, Stanmore Middlesex.

This is a post-CCT position and depending upon the applicants, may be awarded Honorary Fellow status by University College London through the Institute of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Sciences.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will be expected to work eight fixed clinical sessions under the direct supervision of a Consultant Radiologist. The flexible sessions or supporting clinical activity sessions would cover additional tasks, mainly research for which there is an expectation to participate in department audit and research projects. Post holders are encouraged to pursue individual areas of research interest with financial support available for national and international presentation of work undertaken in the department. The candidates would be expected to provide the highest level of patient care in musculoskeletal imaging.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognised Medical degree. Full GMC registration and licence to practice.

Higher Qualifications

Essential

  • FRCR (or oversees equivalent).
  • Entry on the Specialist Register (or be a specialist registrar within 3 months of expected receipt of CCST at the time of intended job start date).

Desirable

  • MRCP
  • MRCS

Knowledge

Essential

  • Broad training across all the modalities of Clinical Radiology that will enable full participation with the general workload.
  • Subspecialty MSK interest with quantitative evidence of dedicated MSK experience.

Desirable

  • Previous MSK fellowship

Academic and Research

Essential

  • Evidence of published papers or presentations at national meetings.
  • A clear understanding of the research process.

Desirable

  • Proven ability to implement, develop and complete research projects.
  • Presentations at international meetings.

Clinical audit and governance

Essential

  • A clear understanding of the process and its role in the maintenance/raising of standards.
  • A commitment to utilising clinical audit as a tool for raising standards.
  • Evidence of recent participation in clinical audit.

Desirable

  • Presentation at audit meeting.

Teaching experience

Essential

  • A commitment to teaching and training; both at postgraduate and undergraduate levels.

Desirable

  • Organisation and delivery of educational sessions.
  • Formal teaching/training course attendance.

Personal skills

Essential

  • Ability to work and communicate within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A clear understanding of Risk Management. Commitment and dedication to service requirements and developments.
  • Courteous, confidential, sensitive and efficient

Desirable

  • Organisational diplomacy. Sense of humour.
  • Leadership qualities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Information technology

Essential

  • Familiarity with computerised Radiology Management Systems, Microsoft Office, Powerpoint presentation, voice recognition and PACS.
