Lung Cancer Advanced Nurse Practitioner: Sponsorship Available

Job summary

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) is required to be an experienced registered nurse working at an advanced level in clinical practice, who will exercise autonomy and decision making in a context of complexity, uncertainty and varying levels of risk, holding accountability for decisions made. The ANP will be able to manage clinical care in partnership with individuals, families and carers responding to differences in cultures, demographics and populations. Utilising critical analysis and synthesis in dealing with complex problems across a range of settings, enabling innovative solutions to enhance people’s experience and improve outcomes.

The ANP role is underpinned by master’s level study and encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership, management, education and research, with demonstration of core capabilities and specialty specific clinical competence. The ANP will be an independent prescriber, having completed a recognised independent prescribing qualification, including annotation with their professional regulatory body and works within their scope of practice and relevant legislative authority.

Main duties of the job

• Co-ordinate the care of patients throughout their lung cancer pathway with the multidisciplinary team and clinical services to ensure the effective management of this group of patients.
• Accountable for own actions in accordance with their professional regulatory body requirements.
• Will contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
• Lead and deliver clinical care, across a variety of settings, according to National and local guidelines ensuring delivery of evidence-based care and working towards the Trust vision of providing a World Class Service.
• Undertake an initial assessment to determine differential diagnosis, utilising advanced critical thinking and decision-making skills, deciding when necessary to refer to senior clinical colleagues.
• Act autonomously to assess, prioritise and provide expert clinical care which contributes to the patients’ treatment plan to ensure that optimum physical, psychological, and social care needs are met and ensures quality care.
• Request and interpret relevant investigations to facilitate the development of the patient’s management plan.
• Initiate the management of patients who are critically ill or deteriorating within scope of practice.
• Proactively refer to other clinicians (own or other services) depending upon patients’ needs to deliver care beyond your limitations and scope of practice.

Qualifications

Essential

• oCurrent UK registered nurse professional registration oMSc in ACP/Advance Practice or Healthcare or HEE/NHSE Advance Practice digital badge oEvidence of continuous professional development oTeaching and assessing qualification/equivalent. oIndependent Prescriber (annotated on professional register) oIRMER regulation training

Desirable

• oPhD or working towards oSpecialist relevant qualification oALS provider oGood Clinical Practice (GCP) training

Experience

Essential

• oSenior clinical experience at Band 7 or above. oSignificant clinical experience in relevant field. Respiratory/ general medicine/oncology oExperience in research and audit oProven record in change management and service development. oEvidence of journal/ book publication/ webinar/oral/poster presentations/ project work oEvidence of leading teams, staff development and teaching oDemonstrate ability to embed evidence-based practice. oExperience in collaborative working with a diverse range of internal/external stakeholders. oExperience of case load management
