To deliver high-quality, safe and compassionate nursing care to adult inpatients. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based care, ensuring patients receive an excellent standard of treatment and experience during their hospital stay. The Band 5 Registered Nurse will promote patient independence, dignity, and wellbeing, while contributing to a positive ward culture and continuous service improvement.

Main duties of the job

1. Clinical Care? Deliver high-quality, safe and compassionate nursing care in line with NMC standards,Trust policies and evidence-based practice across medical, surgical, frailty,rehabilitation and orthopaedic settings.? Undertake holistic patient assessments, develop person-centred care plans andevaluate outcomes, adapting to the clinical needs of a diverse inpatient population.? Perform a full range of ward-based clinical skills (e.g., observations, ECGs, woundcare, catheterisation, mobility assessments, post-operative care, and IV therapy wherecompetent).? Administer medications safely and accurately, following Trust protocols and the NMCCode.? Monitor, recognise and escalate clinical deterioration using the early warning systems.? Support safe and effective discharge planning, involving the multidisciplinary team,community services and other external partners.? Maintain accurate, timely and appropriate documentation using paper and electronicsystems.2. Patient-Centred Communication & Experience? Establish effective therapeutic relationships with patients, carers and families,providing clear information, reassurance and emotional support.? Promote dignity, independence and personalised care for patients with varying levelsof complexity, including frailty or reduced mobility.? Encourage patient participation in decision-making and advocate for their needs andpreferences.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or on an NMC approved BSc/MSc nursing programme due to register with the NMC within 12 months.
  • Relevant clinical training e.g. BLS, Manual Handling, Infection Control

Desirable

  • Additional clinical skills such as venepuncture, cannulation, IV drug administration, male and female catheterisation and / or ECG recording.
  • Practice Supervisor / Assessor qualification
