Main duties of the job

We are recruiting four Band 7 Central Screening Clinicians to join the Surrey-wide Access and Advice Team within Mindworks.

The post is currently based in Guildford; however, the team base may change in line with service developments. The successful candidates will therefore need to be flexible and willing to travel across Surrey as required to meet the service’s needs.

The successful candidates will provide expert clinical screening and telephone triage for urgent and specialist referrals, ensuring children and young people receive the right support, at the right time, through the most appropriate pathway using the THRIVE Needs-Led Approach (i-THRIVE Framework).

Currently, this is not an assessment role. You will use advanced clinical reasoning, risk assessment and safeguarding knowledge to make autonomous decisions regarding referral prioritisation and allocation. You will also support Hub Screening Clinicians with routine referrals when required, provide clinical guidance to colleagues, work closely with the Administration Team and the routine partner team to maintain safe patient flow, and contribute to the ongoing development of the county-wide Access and Advice Team.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC Registration as RMN/RN (Mental Health)

Experience

Essential

  • Significant post-registration experience working within Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services
  • Demonstrable experience of making autonomous clinical decisions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Emotional resilience and ability to remain calm under pressure

Desirable

  • Experience of supervising or mentoring staff
  • Knowledge and application of the i-THRIVE Framework
