We are looking for someone to join our busy and highly skilled team to provide holistic approach to orthopaedic care. The successful applicant will be a dynamic and motivated individual capable of managing their own workload. The post holder will have appropriate, experience or potential to develop. The post holder will work closely with the Ward leader, nurses, consultants and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent standards of nursing care and staff development as part of the team.

They will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure standards of care are consistently maintained.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Charge Nurse, you will play a key role in the clinical and operational management of the unit. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive safe, effective and compassionate care throughout their inpatient journey.

You will be responsible for:

Providing visible clinical leadership and role modelling professional nursing practice.

Supporting the day-to-day management and smooth running of the Unit.

Coordinating patient flow and ensuring effective utilisation of resources.

Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.

Supervising, supporting and developing junior nursing staff and healthcare support workers.

Promoting evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement.

Maintaining high standards of patient safety, experience and clinical governance

Skills

Essential

  • Knowledge of current clinical development and professional issues affecting nursing.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate and influence
  • Demonstrates skills in IT systems
  • Understanding of ‘Scope of Professional Practice’ and its implications for nursing.
  • Ability to problem-solve, prioritise and to work to deadlines
  • Ability to motivate staff and improve individuals and team performance
  • Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with multi professional teams
  • Demonstrates evidence of knowledge and ability to undertake change management
