Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for a suitably qualified Contraception and sexual health nurse to join our friendly team.

Our aim is to promote the health and particularly the sexual health of Adults, young people and those most vulnerable to sexual health concerns through providing information, education and outreach,counselling, confidential clinical and medical services, professional advice and training.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning,treatment implementation and evaluation of patient care demonstrating evidence based/best practice.

To adhere to Walsall Healthcare NHS policies, procedures, protocols and patient group directives in order to promote the quality of the patient experience ensuring the highest standard.

Mentoring continuous professional development of individual team members and assisting in the continued development of the Walsall Integrated Sexual Health Service.

To maintain effective channels of communication with the wider multi-professional team.

The post holder will be responsible for providing services for contraception and sexual health at Walsall Integrated Sexual Health.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Faculty of Reproductive Sexual Healthcare (FSRH) Letter of Competence or equivalent qualification in Sub-dermal contraceptive implants (or successful completion of SDI training within 12 months of commencing post)
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections Foundation (STIF) Course (or successful completion of the STIF course within 12 months of commencing post)
  • Current Nurse and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration as a Registered Nurse

Desirable

  • Teaching and mentorship in a clinical setting

Essential

  • Demonstratable experience working in a contraception and sexual health service, to include experience of; o working to Patient Group Directions o working with young people in a clinical professional role o working within a safeguarding framework with vulnerable at-risk clients

skills and aptitude

Essential

  • Able to work effectively as a member of a team and contribute effectively with internal/external multi professional teams, demonstrating effective leadership skill
