Main duties of the job

To provide a specialist service to the children, young people as well as their parents & carers who are suffering with respiratory conditions within the acute trust. Within this post you will work as part of the respiratory Nursing team, supported by a Band 7 Team leader whilst working in collaboration with the Paediatric Respiratory consultant. The post holder will work across the UHCW and Rugby St Cross site.

The post holder will be involved in developing and delivering expert patient-centred care based on local and national guidance. Care delivered will include patient assessment, planning and implementing of specialist care, provision of advice/support and education in collaboration with the wider MDT including child protection/safeguarding teams.

The post holder will be involved in audit and research, assist in leading a small team, participate in network meetings and provide education to medical and nursing staff within the unit in order to improve quality and enhance care delivery.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oCurrent Paediatric Professional Registration – RNC or equivalent oEvidence of continuous professional development, with courses relevant to area of work oDegree level education oStudy at level 6 (degree/ diploma)

Desirable

  • oHealth assessment module or willingness to undertake

Experience

Essential

  • oEvidence of previous acute Paediatric Clinical experience oExperience of working in the speciality of respiratory care oExperience of multi-agency working oResearch and clinical audit experience

Desirable

  • oKnowledge of Health Promotion techniques oUnderstanding of risk management

Knowledge

  • oKnowledge of the Code of Professional Conduct oA knowledgeable clinician with the ability to apply evidence based practice oAble to apply evidence to practice
