Population Health & Specialist Services have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to undertake a 12-month secondment as an Operational Manager, supporting two diverse and rewarding services: the Care Home Support Service (CHSS) and Luther Street Medical Centre (LSMC) GP Practice – supporting the homeless population in Oxford.
You will work closely with colleagues to provide effective leadership across the services, ensuring they are safe, responsive, well organised and focused on delivering high-quality patient care. This hybrid role will offer the ability to work flexibly within core hours.
We are looking for someone who is ready for a challenging but rewarding role. You need to be a confident communicator, able to build positive relationships and connect effectively with staff, clinical teams and both internal and external stakeholders.
Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required.
Main duties of the job
- Be responsible for the operational management of the service, contributing to planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the relevant service to take a lead role in developing teams and services in the relevant pathway and to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
- Work alongside the Senior Operational Manager in contributing to overall Directorate strategy/policy to ensure the Directorate delivers its quality, quality improvement, people, finance and performance objectives (in regard to the service they manage).
- The Operations Manager will also work with the Senior Operational Manager and Senior Lead of Quality and Governance on research development and programmes for their service.
- Support workforce planning, staffing and resource managementmonitor service performance and support delivery against key objectives/contractual requirements
- Support quality, governance, risk management and patient safetyleading and supporting service improvement and changeworking closely with clinical leads and multidisciplinary teams supporting staff engagement, development and wellbeing
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Worked with a proven track record at level commensurate with Band 7 pay
- degree education or equivalent
Desirable
- Holds a management qualification.
Experience
Essential
- Demonstrates ability to be a good team member and to lead a complex team.
- Experience of managing change
Knowledge
Essential
- Able to organise workload and manage time within conflicting agendas.
- Evidence of a wide range of clinical or operational experience, including experience in the NHS.
- Demonstrates in depth knowledge of the principles of clinical governance and its application to service development.
