Would you like to use your electronics skills in a role that directly supports patient care?

We are seeking a practical, and enthusiastic electronics engineer or technician to join our Radiotherapy Physics team. You will work with specialist radiotherapy equipment, supporting routine quality assurance, preventive maintenance, equipment testing, technical fault-finding, and also with our Mould Room team creating patient specific equipment for patients undergoing radiotherapy. You will develop skills in Radiotherapy engineering, calibration, workshop fabrication, patient immobilisation creation and 3D printing.

You do not need previous radiotherapy or NHS experience. We will provide the training and supervision needed to develop safely and confidently in the role.

We are interested in candidates from a wide range of technical backgrounds, including electronics repair, calibration, manufacturing, field service, medical devices, aviation, defence and engineering maintenance. Applications are welcome from graduates, HND or BTEC-qualified technicians.

The role will have a fixed working pattern associated with it and the hours of work will be from 06:45 to 14:45, Monday to Friday, with no routine night or shift work. There is also NHS benefits and the opportunity to develop a rewarding specialist career within healthcare technology.

Main duties of the job

As post holder, your duties will include:

  • Maintain and service all radiotherapy equipment.
  • Fault find and carry out emergency repairs to all radiotherapy equipment.
  • Perform safety and quality assurance checks on all radiotherapy equipment.
  • Keep up to date records of all service work, repairs and QA checks.
  • Liaise with Radiographer and Radiotherapy Physics scientific staff in respect of machine performance to ensure safe radiotherapy treatment.
  • Participation in maintaining the Departmental ISO9001:2015 quality system including review of procedures, writing of work instructions, carrying out audits.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional electronics knowledge to degree or equivalent level eg BEng, or BTech/HND + further training or experience.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in an electronic, electrical or technical engineering environment.
  • Experience in fault finding and diagnosing technical problems in electronic or electromechanical equipment

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and other professions.
  • Ability to work safely in environments involving high voltage equipment, ionising radiation, lead shielding and other clinical hazards, following appropriate safety procedures.
