Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to be part of our Gynaecology oncology services. The job is advertised as a full-time substantive position.

The appointed individual will be part of the Gynaecology on call consultant team and able to deliver unit oncology services. We require an individual with expertise in gynaecological oncology, transvaginal scanning, outpatient hysteroscopy, general gynaecology skills.

Although the post is gynaecology based the successful candidate will beexpected to provide assistance with our high-risk Placenta Accreta Service (PAS) when needed and on call.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate should demonstrate strong skills in working independently and within the care group in collaboration with other relevant clinical departments within a multidisciplinary team. The post is suitable for candidates who hold the RCOG subspeciality training in Gynecology, Oncology or those with strong background and previous experience in the field.

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Full registration the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligible for full registration if applying from abroad
  • Currently on the specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 3 months of the closing date
  • MRCOG or equivalent qualification
  • RCOG ATSM/SITM in Gynaecology Oncology
  • Training in transvaginal scanning, outpatient hysteroscopy

Desirable

  • An MD or PhD
  • Subspeciality training in gynaecology Oncology
  • Consultant experience in working at a cancer unit
  • BSCCP accreditation
  • Publications

Experience

Essential

  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT
  • Evidence of experience in gynaecological cancers
  • Evidence of experience in transvaginal scanning
  • Evidence of experience in gynaecological surgery including laparoscopic surgery for gynaecological cancers
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
  • Evidence of developing evidence-based services in obstetrics and gynaecology e.g. audit, guidelines or service development.

Desirable

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience.
  • Evidence of peer-reviewed publications in the field of oncology
  • Evidence of undertaking quality improvement work
  • Evidence of initiating research and training programmes

Skills

Essential

  • Able to function at consultant level when on-call
  • Able to deliver independently as unit cancer surgeon

Desirable

  • Relevant and ATSM modules
  • Skills in ambulatory gynae clinics
