Job summary

This consultant post is to support the ENT team with both surgical and clinical work to support the reduction of the backlog. Work will be based at both the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals. The team requires support from an enthusiastic ENT surgeon who can manage all aspects of ENT and Benign Thyroid.

Main duties of the job

This consultant post is to support the ENT team with both surgical and clinical work to support the reduction of the backlog. Work will be based at both the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals. The team requires support from an enthusiastic ENT surgeon who can manage all aspects of ENT and Benign Thyroid.

Specific surgical skills relating to General ENT & Benign Thyroid surgery are required to assist with the surgical caseload. Medical education qualifications and experience are also highly desirable for this role.

The appointed applicant will have an integral role in assisting in waiting list backlogs, with routine new referrals, follow up appointments and general ENT & benign thyroid operating lists. Successful applicants would be expected to take part in the on-call rota for the department based on a 1:9 weekday frequency and 1:14 weekend frequency as this is shared with Mid Cheshire NHS Trust.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration
  • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry via CCT within 6 months of date of Interview or CESR

Desirable

  • Other higher degree (PhD, Masters, BSc)

Experience

Essential

  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining (UK) CCT in ENT Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on range of problems both emergency and elective within specialty Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualifications in medical education Experience of undergraduate teaching and supervision Experience of clinical supervision and mentorship
