Highly Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist PCD: Sponsorship Available

Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust

Job summary

Join our highly specialist Paediatric Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) team and help shape the future of care for children and young people living with PCD.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced, and highly motivated Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist to join our internationally recognised Paediatric PCD Service.

Physiotherapy is central to the treatment and long-term management of Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD), a rare, lifelong genetic condition affecting approximately 1 in 7,500 people in the UK. Our specialist paediatric service currently supports more than 170 children and young people, delivering expert, family-centred care across a range of settings.

This unique role offers the opportunity to combine advanced clinical practice, leadership, and service development within one of the UK’s leading specialist respiratory services. Working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team, including Band 7 Paediatric PCD Physiotherapist and Clinical Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist, you will play a key role in leading, coordinating, and continually developing physiotherapy services for children and young people with PCD.

Main duties of the job

You will provide highly specialist physiotherapy assessment and intervention within outpatient clinics at The Royal Brompton Hospital, support children and young people admitted to Evelina London Children’s Hospital, and deliver specialist care within homes, schools, and shared-care clinics. This integrated approach ensures seamless care across both community and acute settings. You will also contribute to the paediatric physiotherapy service at weekends and out of hours on call.

This is a varied and rewarding role offering significant professional autonomy within a supportive and highly skilled multidisciplinary team. You will manage complex clinical presentations, develop meaningful long-term therapeutic relationships with children and families, and contribute to innovative models of care that enable children and young people to lead active, healthy lives.

As a senior member of the team, you will be encouraged to lead service developments, contribute to audit and research activities, support education and training initiatives, and provide mentorship to junior colleagues and students. You will also have the opportunity to be part of a national PCD physiotherapy network. We are committed to supporting your professional growth and offer excellent opportunities to further develop your clinical, leadership, quality improvement, and research skills within a nationally and internationally recognised service.
