Job Summary

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about patient care and delivery, to join our Gynaecology Cancer Team as ‘Early Diagnostic Support Worker’.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an integral part of the Gynaecology Cancer Team and will support in the co-ordination of the diagnostic pathway forpatients. The post holder will ensure close and robust co-ordination of the patient pathway and will be a key point of liaison for patients, relatives,consultants, nurse specialists, GPs, the wider oncology team and other disciplines within the Trust. In addition, the post holder will be able tosignpost patients and carers to the relevant sources of support and information appropriate to their needs.

A large part of the role is providing administrative and coordination support to consultants, cancer nurse specialists and the wider medical and nursing teams who support the Gynaecology cancer pathway. The role will play an integral part of the patient’s experience of their cancer journey and will also be key member of the team in supporting the achievement of the 28 and 62 day cancer standards.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good level of general education

Desirable

  • GCSE English and Mathematics Grade C or above or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant NHS or Health Care experience

Desirable

  • Previous medical secretarial or administrative experience

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of basic medical terminology

Desirable

  • Knowledge or relevant cancer treatments, interventions & terminology
