Job Summary

The Commercial Informatics Unit is a growing team of Developers and Data Scientists with the remit for innovation in data analytics and visualisation within the NHS. The team’s principles are designed to foster creativity, enabling us to stay at the forefront of development and delivery, without getting bogged down in the “business as usual”.

Using a modern cloud microservices architecture and open source frameworks, libraries, and databases, you will lead in creating interactive and intuitive applications to aid in everything from policy and decision making to direct patient care. This will include participating in the design and creation of scalable applications and services, using cloud-native technologies, applying your skills in the writing of clean, functional code.

Main duties of the job

Essential skills related to this role include:

  • Established developer role using a modern technology stack
  • Experience of developing web applications with JavaScript and CSS
  • Experience of Relational Databases
  • Development of APIs
  • Testing and fixing bugs or other coding issues
  • Developing applications using a microservices architecture
  • Experience of Git version control system
  • Experience in .Net (C#)
  • Creating standard operating procedures (SOPs), which can be referred to by other members of the team.
  • Experience with SQL Server

Desirable skills associated to the development of the role:

  •  CSS and SASS
  • Experience with Bootstrap
  • Experienced in writing unit tests
  • Presenting methods and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Experience with VB.Net
  • Postholder may be required to implement solutions at other NHS Organisations.

Job responsibilities

As a full stack developer you’ll be working in Microservice based applications using Microsoft stack (C#, SQL Server, Razor, JQuery, CSS).

  • Undertake complex and detailed information analysis of specific projects/reports requiring high levels of concentration
  • Monitor and tracking risks. Embedding proactive resolution and escalation processes.
  • Lead requirement analysis, production, and review of technical design solutions of large/complex programmes.
  • Lead efficient software development using good design considering code reuse and efficiencies as well as innovative implementation methodologies.
  • Apply technical experience and knowledge in the evaluation of solutions and maintain technical awareness to a level where alternatives can be advised, analysed and modelled.
