The Jefferiss Wing is a busy and dynamic integrated sexual health service offering a wide range of services including screening for sexually transmitted infections, nurse-led follow up and treatment clinics, services for people who have experienced sexual assault, and other specialist clinics.

We require an enthusiastic nursing associate with:

Main duties of the job

Following the preceptorship period provide specialist advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients and relatives/carers without supervision in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).

At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.

Actively seek evidence-based practice to maintain competence and continue to develop and deliver a high standard of nursing care in HIV and Sexual Health.

Monitor and maintain policies, standards of nursing care and staff development, as part of the nursing and MDT to maintain a safe working environment.

Be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified within the Jefferiss Wing and Trust

Person Specification

Education

Essential

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
  • Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification
  • GCSE Grade A-C English and Maths or level 2 in Maths and English

Desirable

  • Other Health related qualifications

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information

Desirable

  • Previous NHS experience
  • Acute hospital experience
  • Understanding NHS/ Health and Social care.

Skills

Essential

  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
  • Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
  • Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice
  • Understand requirements for NMC professional Revalidation
