The Role

As a community care and support worker you will be visiting people at home or out in the community. Some things you might do:

  • Helping people with washing and dressing to get ready for the day
  • Assisting with meal preparation and medication
  • Assisting with incontinence care
  • Helping with shopping, household tasks, and meal planning
  • Going out on walks/ cinema/ bowling and other activities
  • Going to the farm for days out

The role of a care and support work is varied and very rewarding. We support children, adults, and elderly individuals with anything from day-to-day tasks to learning new skills and enjoying. We work with people from varied backgrounds and with varied care and support needs.

Areas we cover

We are looking for individuals to join our team in providing high quality care and support in Central & West Kent. The areas we cover are:

  • Maidstone
  • Tonbridge & Malling
  • Tunbridge Wells
  • Sevenoaks

Pay Breakdown

Our care calls are generally from 30-60 minutes per call, and we aim to keep these calls as close together as possible.

Our support calls are generally longer in duration from 1- 7 hours in duration.

Your total hours are made up of the following- contact time with customers, travel time between customers, and waiting time up to 20 minutes. Waiting time over 20 minutes we calculate as an unpaid break. You are paid your salaried hourly rate for all time.

Working Patterns

We have a mixture of AM, PM and daytime shifts. Our earliest shift starts between 6/7am and our latest shift finishes at 10/10.30pm. You will get your rotas in advance.

Company Car

We know that doing community care is very hard on your personal vehicle so we have company cars that you can collect the start of your shift and return at the end. This means you are only use your own vehicle to commute to our offices in Maidstone. These cars come with fuel cards so you do not need to worry about paying for fuel.

If you use your own vehicle we pay 22p per mile or 44p mile if you collect a non-driver to do a double round together. Mileage is calculated from your home, round your care calls, then back to your home.

Qualifications

  • NVQ in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification or willing to work towards
  • Valid UK Driving Licence
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in English language
  • IT skills for documentation and reporting
  • Experience in care home or home care settings
  • Ability to implement care plans
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate care and support
