Job Summary

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the Mortuary Team as a Trainee Anatomical Pathology Technologist.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and keen attention to detail. The successful candidate will act as additional resource to receive and release patients at the mortuary and assist at post mortem examinations. This role is ideal for a motivated individual who is keen to develop a career as an Anatomical Pathology Technologist in an NHS mortuary.

Applicants must be willing to work towards a level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology. Full on the job training provided.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE level in 5 subjects grade A-C, to include English, Maths and a Science (preferably Biology).
  • Awareness of Health and Safety issues.
  • Understanding the importance of confidentiality and data quality.
  • Awareness of role within a Mortuary

Desirable

  • GCSE Biology or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working IT systems/data entry
  • Working alone and as part of a team

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Have good hand-eye co-ordination/manual dexterity skills
  • Competent keyboard skills
  • Basic analytical skills with an ability to work in a methodical and systematic way.
  • Be able to work under pressure, prioritise workload and work to deadlines
  • Be able to handle patients and transfer from trolleys to post mortem tables and into refrigerated store.
