Job summary
The Specialist Sarcoma Service at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the regional centre for Bone and Soft Tissue Service, proving the highest level of expertise and specialist care for adults and children.
This role has an Orthopaedics focus and will work as part of the MDT following patients from diagnosis through their initial and continuing care.
We will provide you with training to support you both clinically and leading innovative and dynamic change, embracing the Quality Improvement focus of NUTH.
You will have peer support from within the Orthopaedics Team, and have the opportunity to expand skills through collaborative working with paediatrics and plastics.
The role includes a Friday; other days can be negotiated.

Main duties of the job
The role will have a variety of clinical settings: outpatient, inpatient, and telephone reviews.
The collection and analysis of outcome measure data, presenting this to wider clinical and business colleagues.
Supporting and educating colleagues, patients, and family / carers.

Qualifications & Education
Essential
- Degree or equivalent Diploma in Physiotherapy
- State Registered with Health and Care Professions Council
- Evidence of CPD and relevant post-graduate courses to MSc level
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Extensive post-grad experience including considerable experience as a senior physiotherapist within specialty (Master’s level equivalent).
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience of teaching and delivering presentations
- Highly specialist knowledge of medical conditions relevant to the speciality and their impact on patient’s functional abilities.
- Highly specialist knowledge of the physiotherapy process and its application with the client group in the speciality
Desirable
- Knowledge of undertaking research projects
- Knowledge of current NHS initiatives
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Involvement with the relevant CSP Clinical Special Interest Group e.g. APCP
- Previous Band 7 experience
- Experience of carrying out audit projects
