Job summary
The Ambulance Care Service (NEPTS) is responsible for providing non-emergency and pre-planned transport, to and from hospitals and treatment centres for patients who have appointments at out-patient clinics, day surgery units, and day centres. The service acts as a vital link between communities and is an important and integral part of the overall package of health care provided by the Ambulance Service in Wales.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and leadership of the Ambulance Care planning, control and discharge team based in the Journey Coordination Centre.The post holder will manage the team supporting delivery of a patient focused non-emergency transport service for South East Wales Health Board area. Supervisory or management experience is essential, and the post offers an opportunity to work within in a very busy dynamic team environment where issues and challenges require a calm and efficient approach, coordinating and problem solving on an ongoing basis as well as developing and leading the team. This team is responsible for advance and on the day scheduling for all non-emergency patient journeys within a specific geographical area, therefore good organisational skills are essential.
Main duties of the job
The efficient management of Ambulance Care and all Ambulance Care Control Services Staff, irrespective of role during period of duty or shift. The application of National Control Procedures and other procedures and instructions concerned with the movement of patients within the defined standards of Ambulance Care during the period of duty.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
