We are recruiting into permanent Paramedic posts. The positions are full-time and will be based at Newport Ambulance Station, Isle of Wight.
The role is as exciting and varied as it is challenging. When you join the Isle of Wight NHS Trust Ambulance Service you’ll work with a host of public and voluntary services; Police and Fire & Rescue Service and volunteers from organisations such as British Red Cross, St John Ambulance, RNLI, IoW Search and Rescue & HM Coastguard.
Successful applicants will demonstrate high levels of personal commitment to facilitate the delivery of a patient-focused service.
We need individuals who have the drive and passion to make a difference to people’s lives, but also the personal resilience to work in a high-pressured environment.
Successful candidates will need to be available to start in post for February 2025.
Main duties of the job
Job Purpose
- To deliver high quality, patient centred care.
- To ensure that relationships and own behaviour is managed in line with Trust and service competencies.
Job Statement
- To respond using advanced emergency driving skills and manage emergency calls / incidents as allocated by the Integrated Care Hub, including emergencies, urgent calls, routine transfers, mainland transfers and other operational details commensurate with their role and responsibilities.
- Work either as part of ambulance crew or as a solo responder.
- At all times provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care to patients in a pre-hospital environment.
- Formulation and delivery of critical care plans and treatment for patients in accordance with agreed guidelines, Trust / Service Policy, Procedures and current legislation, Health & Care Professions Council including Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee (JRCALC), College of Paramedics (CoP) and National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) as appropriate.
- Demonstrate a continued commitment to professional development.
- Lifting, carrying and moving of patients and / or equipment.
