We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the Mortuary team as a Band 5 Anatomical Pathology Technologist.We are looking for an individual with excellent inter-personal and organisational skills and a keen attention to detail.

The role is ideal for a qualified individual who is keen to progress their career as an Anatomical Pathology Technologist in an NHS mortuary.

Candidates wishing to undertake part time work will be considered.

Interviews will take place from the week commencing 6th of January 2025

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of the mortuary, caring for patients and the bereaved, assisting with post mortems and taking an active role with the maintenance of Quality Management Systems.

Person Specification

Knowledge, training, and Experience

Essential

  • Hold Diploma in Anatomical Pathology from RIPHH/ RSPH
  • Demonstrate an awareness of developments in specialty being applied for.
  • Show evidence of commitment to continuing personal and professional development.
  • Experience in training others in the practical aspects of the work.
  • Experience in operating mortuary equipment according to the manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Experience of computerised laboratory systems and its maintenance.
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety Issues.
  • Awareness of role within a Mortuary
  • Experience of maintaining Quality Management systems

Desirable

  • GCSE Biology or equivalent

  • Experience of working IT systems/data entry
  • Working alone and as part of a team

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Have good hand-eye co-ordination/manual dexterity skills.
  • Competent keyboard skills
  • Competent use of mortuary equipment.
  • Basic analytical skills with an ability to work in a methodical and systematic way
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and work to deadlines.

  • Ability to work with Trust IT systems/data entry
