Job summary
We are looking to recruit a band 4 assistant occupational therapy and speech and language therapy practitioner in the forensic learning disability community team. The successful applicant will be highly motivated and enthusiastic with a passion for their vocation working with people with learning disabilities and forensic needs.
We provide a community-based service for those residents of Walsall, Dudley, Sandwell and Wolverhampton. Team members are required to work in all areas of the Black Country.
The team uses a multidisciplinary approach, which is based on a joint formulation, and all members of the team participate actively in this process through both partnership work and regular reviews.

Main duties of the job
To provide both direct and indirect intervention with guidance, direction and supervision from a qualified clinician. To carry out interventions (individual or group) using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals. To refer to a qualified Occupational Therapist/Speech and Language Therapist who will oversee the monitoring, evaluation and modification of treatment in order to measure progress and to ensure effective intervention. To screen and monitor risks associated with swallowing disorders as directed by the relevant clinician always escalating risks immediately to a qualified clinician for action. Work with clients/families/other agencies as required independently following appropriate guidance, procedures and following preparation from a qualified clinician. To support and deliver training and therapeutic groups under guidance of qualified clinicians. Under the guidance of qualified clinicians, have responsibility for organising his/her own clinical administration, achieving key performance targets and ensuring a cost-effective quality service.. Responsibility for maintaining accurate and contemporaneous client records (within 24 hours), overseen by a qualified member of clinician, in order to ensure compliance with departmental, professional and legal requirements.
