Job summary
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for one full-time and one part-time (30 hours) Assistant Psychologist to join the East Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in North Wales.
Based across the Child Health Centre, Wrexham, and Catherine Gladstone House, Mancot, these posts offer opportunities to work within local communities across Wrexham and Flintshire. Successful applicants will join a supportive multidisciplinary team, working alongside Clinical Psychologists and other experienced professionals to deliver assessment and therapeutic services for children, young people, and their families.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop clinical skills and gain experience within a specialist CAMHS setting. Duties include supporting psychological and mental health assessments, delivering interventions, contributing to multidisciplinary and multi-agency working, and participating in early intervention and prevention work.
East CAMHS has strong links with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme at Bangor University, regularly contributing to teaching and providing a range of trainee placements.
Applicants should hold a Psychology degree (2:1 or above) and have experience of working therapeutically with children and young people in a health, social care, or educational setting.
Main duties of the job
To assist in the provision of a psychological service to clients within the specialty under the direction of the supervising clinical psychologist.
To be responsible for the planning and prioritisation of own workload and activities following the direction and guidelines given by the supervising clinical psychologist.
To undertake assessments of clients and implement programmes of care or intervention following guidance from the supervising clinical psychologist.
To undertake research activities as required and directed by the supervising clinical psychologist.
To work within guidelines given by the supervising clinical psychologist.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
