Job Summary

This post offers an exciting opportunity within the Scarborough Integrated Community Team. This is a service which offers evidence based interventions to an adult population. .

We are seeking an Assistant Psychologist who can work as an integral part of the psychology team and the wider multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will have a degree in psychology and ideally have some experience of working with people with mental health difficulties. The Assistant Psychologist will work under supervision of the Applied Psychologist. There will also be opportunities to participate in audit and service evaluations.

We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist who is passionate, enthusiastic and creative. The successful candidate will learn to provide specialist assessment, formulate, plan and deliver interventions for people experiencing common mental health conditions.

 

Main duties of the job

To undertake structured psychological assessments of clients with mental health conditions and delivery of protocol-driven psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified applied psychologist, in community settings.

To be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.

Organises own workload on a day to day basis, prioritising work as appropriate.

To assist in clinical audits.

To show commitment to and participate in quality improvement activities.

To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities.

To promote at all times a positive image of the service and the wider Trust.

Responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive client records using CITO in accordance with the Trust and professional record keeping standards.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in psychology.
  • Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society

Desirable

  • Post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.

Experience

Essential

  • Some experience of people using services in psychological, mental health and/or social care settings. This may include, for example, personal experience or supporting a family member to access services.
  • Experience in discussing and responding to issues related to cultural diversity, intersectionality and inclusivity, including working with vulnerable groups (e.g. those for whom English is not their first language).
  • Experience of understanding the needs of people with mental health and/or a learning disability
