Job Summary

We would like to appoint an Assistant Psychologist to work in the Adult Mental Health (AMH) Neighbourhood Mental Health Services (NMHS) in Worcestershire. We are a pilot site for the Transformation Model working in the community considering local need and linking with community services.

We welcome applications for full/part time working. We provide face to face and virtual interventions as clinically appropriate. We value our psychology team and provide professional development and wellbeing/support opportunities.

The NMHS teams have integrated psychological pathways for individuals with moderate/severe, severe/enduring, psychosis/bipolar and emotionally unstable presentations. The post holder will be supported to apply Clinical and Counselling Psychology core values with respect to their working practice, linked with a diverse service user group and with a range of complex mental health needs.

Main duties of the job

This 12-month fixed-term post is integral to the NMHS, working to assist with and contribute to the psychology service delivery.

The post holder will be given the opportunity to engage service users in psychological interventions within Clinical and Counselling Psychology theoretical frameworks.

They will predominantly be supporting, delivering and auditing psychologically informed virtual and face to face group interventions.

They will also work with Clinical and Counselling Psychologists delivering Applied Psychology interventions and ways of working and promoting trauma-informed care in the NMHS.

They will be supported by regular supervision with a HCPC Registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. They will be provided with guidance to develop a portfolio to support future professional training applications.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • A good understanding of the needs and difficulties of patients within the specified service area
  • Knowledge and awareness of evidence-based practice relating to patients within the specified service area, including psychological assessment and therapy techniques
  • Graduate knowledge of research design and methodology

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc/BA Honours Degree at 2:1 or above in Psychology
  • Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer

  • Advanced keyboard skills

  • Experience of working with patients in the specified service area ideally as an Assistant Psychologist

  • Experience in the assessment and delivery of psychological interventions, including cognitive assessment and cognitive behavioural therapies
  • Experience in delivery of self-help programmes or packages of
